Chapter 2

Damn that guy. I'm at my room right now, nakahiga nanaman. "Shyrvielle Winter Cervantes! Get down right now, young lady!" Sigaw ni Kar, damn. She's so loud. "Kalma! Geez, I was just resting, I just came back from the gym you know!" She shouted "Okay!" and I continued what I was doing.
Pagkatapos kong pumili, bumaba na ako agad. I heard some noise coming from the kitchen so I went there and then, I saw them hovering over my food, "Just so you know, you're eating my cookies. Mine," I said while leaning to the wall, "We know that, duh," Rae rolled her eyes. Aba't.
"So what are your plans now?" Kar asked, eating MY COOKIE. Tsh. "Same as usual," I answered in a flat tone. I admit, my life is kinda dangerous. Well, really dangerous. But I lived with it for several years now and all I can say is, having no underground work to do, is boring. Let's just say, I got used to it.
"Someone will kidnap you again, and what? Your siblings will rescue you, survive and move on like nothing happened?" Karla scolded me, "What can I do? That's what exactly is gonna happen!" I exclaimed, "And you can avoid that, if you don't play innocent and fight," Chlis suddenly popped out, Rae and Karla agreed with what she said. "You know I can't. If I do, more organizations will come after me if they get the information that I can fight well," I argued, "My skills alone is already enough for them to come after me, how much more if they get ahold of the info that I can fight like their elite ones?" I added. They didn't say anything after that because I just made a point. They got quiet for a few minutes until Reasse broke the silence.
"What time will we leave?" Rae changed the topic. I guess we'll talk about this later na lang, "We should go at 10:15 or 30," Chlis responded, and Kar agreed. Its 8 in the evening pa lang naman so we still have time to prepare. "Shy, help me cook, I know these two won't help me," Chlis said while pointing at both Karla and Reasse and the two just laughed. Ayan kasi, 'di marunong magluto mga gaga, kung hindi sunog, hilaw naman.
"What are we cooking?" I asked Chlis, "What do you want me to cook?" she asked me back. I thought for a bit before answering, "You know my favorites!" she chuckled, "I don't know your favorites because you eat them all equally," she's right, I always have different bowls for everything she cooks because its so spontaneously delicious! "Right, then um, bulgogi, tteokbokki, hobakjuk and jjajangmyeon," I answered excitedly, tinawanan niya ako tsaka ginulo buhok ko.
We prepared all the ingredients, washed them and did all the things that are needed to do before cooking the dishes I chose. Rae and Karla are in the living room ata, nanonood nanaman ng kung ano man magustuhan nila.
Chlis is actually Korean, her Korean name is Hye Jin Choi and her American name is Chlisté. Karla, Rae and I met her when we were back at the U.S. and that was around five years ago yata?
"How about we just cancel our night out later?" Chlis said while cooking and I was just following her orders. "They're looking forward to it," I answered, referring to the two girls, "And I don't go out that much. They'll be disappointed, I don't want them to go to the club with frowns on their foreheads," I reasoned out. "Yeah, we wouldn't want that," she responded. I didn't answer after that. We just continued what we were doing. I looked at her to see what she was doing and I caught her looking at me, "What?"
"You're doing it wrong," she positioned herself behind me and held my hands before demonstrating what to do, "Like that, just continue what you're doing," she said. She's not holding my hands anymore but she's still behind me, her left hand on my waist and her right hand on my shoulder. Now I'm getting conscious.
"Is it done yet?" I startled at the voice I heard, I looked over my shoulder and I saw Rae leaning on the kitchen doorway. Jusko 'tong babaeng 'to, sobra na ata yung kagutuman. I laughed at what I thought. Kaming dalawa talaga yung laging gutom, pero ako ata yung nangingibabaw. "What were you guys doing?" she's so nosy sometimes. "Cooking, what else?" Chlis casually said, hindi naman ako tumanggi sa sinabi niya, "She's right, we were just cooking, what were you thinking?" I teased and she just rolled her eyes na nagpatawa sa akin. "Whatever, are you guys done?"
"No, your highness. But we will serve you your meal in a few minutes, so just rest and we'll deliver it to you," Chlis answered and we both bowed at Rae that made the three of us laugh. "Hey, Shy should be the one that's called "your highness" or "your majesty", duh," she countered and Chlis faked a gasp. Gosh these girls. "But seriously, we're finishing up, so just wait. We'll join you guys in a sec."
After a few minutes, we finished cooking, prepared everything and joined the two girls. "Jeez, what are you two watching again?" I asked as soon as I sat at the single couch. "Just a documentary," Karla casually answered, "Can we watch something else?" I groaned, I really don't like documentaries. Not that I hate them, I'm not just interested in watching them, not into it. "No," the three of them answered in unison. I groaned again, I just ate my hobakjuk and tteokbokki  in silence while watching the documentary and glaring at the three girls I'm with at the same time. I'm not really a fan of documentaries, but I watch some if it piques my interest.
"What time are we leaving again?" Karla asked, "10:30."
"Alright."
A few seconds had passed until I heard my phone ringing across the room. Tumayo ako at hinanap kung saan nanggagaling yung tunog, "Its at the kitchen, dummy," Rae said. "Oh, thanks," I walked towards the kitchen habang dala dala ang pagkain ko, ayokong iwan 'to doon kasi baka kainin ni Rae. Mahirap na. Pagkarating ko sa kusina, nakita ko agad phone ko sa countertop.
Ate Nash calling...
I answered the call and placed it between my shoulder and ear while eating. "'Sup?" I greeted, "Where are you?" weird, "Still the usual, why? Something happened? Where are you?" I threw questions at her. She never usually asks where I am, she'll just ask how am I doing and if I ever need help in something and on top of that, she rarely calls. "Just called to warn you about your last target's family. Dude, you left more traces than you usually do!"
Shit, how'd she know?
"I know, I know," I sighed. I put my food on the countertop, "Then why did you do nothing about it?!" she exclaimed, "Because I panicked, okay? Does kuya and dad know?" I cautiously asked her, "No, but if you don't fix this? I won't stop them if they attempt to dig deep," she answered. Napahawak na lang ako sa buhok ko. Fuck. "Okay, okay. The girls and I will be going out later, I'll try to fix this while I'm out, capisce?"
"You should, and just to warn you again, I think they're tailing you now. The last update was last week ago."
"On the other hand, tumawag si kuya kanina. Sinabi niya din yung sinabi mo," sabi ko, "Ano?"
"About the Gabriel's, my last target's family."
"So may alam na silang dalawa ni Dad?" tanong niya, "'Di ko alam, but I know that kuya knows something. 'Di ko lang din alam kung hanggang san ba alam niya," sagot ko. "As I said earlier, 'di ko sila pipigilan pag mag-imbestiga sila, basta wala akong sasabihin tungkol dito, okay?" tumango naman ako, as if nakikita ako ni ate, "Opo."
"Good. Mag-ingat ka sa lakad niyo. 'Wag ka masyadong papagabi," paalala niya, "Yes, ate. Duly noted," nagsalute pa ako, kahit alam kong 'di naman niya makikita. "Great. Kumain ka before leaving," sambit niya, "Teka ate, where are you right now pala?" pahabol ko bago pa matapos ang tawag, "Just somewhere. Basta mag-iingat ka, Shy," she said before hanging up. Napabuntong hininga na lang ako. Its either she's busy, doing something private or she's in trouble. Gosh, ate.
That was my older sister, Ynaush, twin sister of my kuya, Zaphry. Mas matanda si ate ng 3 minutes kay kuya. I wouldn't say na mas close ako sa isa sa kanila kasi parehas ko lang sila pinagsasabihan ng problems ko, and they both do the same, except for private matters. Like yung pinaka private na talaga.
"Hey, you gonna stay here or you'll get ready?" napalingon naman ako at nakita ko si Chlis sa doorway ng kusina. "What? I thought we'll go there by 10:30?" I opened my phone to check the time, "Its just past 8."
"Karla said we should go there early, and you don't take long to get ready anyway," she explained, "Oh, and the screen's all yours. We'll just get ready," she added that lit something up inside me. She turned her back on me and walked towards the stairs to her room, I guess, and I followed her, "And oh, hey Shy?" she called, "We'll borrow your makeup, you don't use them much, right?" tumango na lang ako, "Great! You should get ready when the clock hits 9:45, alright?"
"Will do, now go get ready before they get to my makeup kit first," pagkasabi ko non ay tumakbo na siya.
Pumwesto naman na ako sa sofa sa harap ng TV at nanood ng Riverdale sa Netflix. Now no one will disturb me until 9:30. I smiled in triumph at that thought.
Habang nanonood, I felt my head starting to hurt. I'm dizzy. Shit.
"Win, tara, doon naman tayo oh," I saw someone dragging me towards somewhere, I looked at it and it was a ferris wheel. "No, ayoko babe. Not that one," I whined. Why did I answer? I don't know this woman. Why did I call her babe? Who is she?
"Tara na, sige ka, sa rollercoaster tayo kapag ayaw mo dito," she blackmailed me. Wala akong nagawa at sumunod na lang sa kaniya. Why did I follow her? Just who is she? I can't see her face clearly, everything is blurry, including her. She's fading, everything is slowly fading. What is happening?
"Issa?!" I shouted. Who am I calling? Whose name was I shouting?
"Babe! This isn't funny anymore!" I sobbed. Why am I crying? I have no idea who I am calling.
"Shy!"
"Shyrvielle!"
"Woah, woah. Why?" I panicked. I blinked my eyes to adjust to the light and I saw Rae, Karla and Chlis looking at me. "What happened?"
"There were tears steaming down your cheeks when I got here, I looked at what you were watching and it wasn't even that sad," Karla explained. I glanced at the television and she's right. Its not a sad moment. "Is something wrong?" Chlis asked me with worry visible in her eyes, "No, I'm fine. Maybe I'm just too emotional this day," I chuckled to make the situation better. "We can stay here if you're not feeling good," Rae suggested. Ayokong paasahin sila, I already promised na lalabas kami ngayong gabi, and besides, 'di naman masama pakiramdam ko. "Nope, we're going out. I promised you guys and its unlike me to take a promise back, so let's go party!" I cheered and Rae cheered, too. She's a party animal.
I changed my clothes, they put makeup on me and we headed out. It was Chlis' turn to drive tonight.
